Dermal filler guide:
balance, healing & what to expect.
Dermal fillers can refine lips, restore volume, support facial balancing, improve contour, and enhance skin quality — but the best results come from planning, anatomy, product selection, technique, and realistic healing expectations.
Important: Bruising and swelling may occur. Full healed results are typically appreciated around 7–14 days, depending on the person, product, treatment area, and individual healing response.
Conservative filler.
Thoughtful transformation.
This real Eternal MedSpa client result shows how dermal filler can be part of a broader, natural-looking plan — not an isolated treatment.
A balanced plan, not
one overdone treatment.
This look was achieved over 3 months with conservative dermal filler to the cheeks, lips, and chin, wrinkle relaxer injections, and a consistent medical-grade skincare routine.
The goal was not to change the guest’s face. The goal was to restore balance, support natural contours, enhance the lips softly, and improve overall visible skin quality.
What are dermal fillers,
and what do they actually do?
Dermal fillers are injectable products used to add or restore volume, refine contours, soften selected folds, support facial balance, and in some cases improve the appearance of skin quality. Different filler families behave differently, so product selection matters.
Filler is not just “adding volume.” A thoughtful filler plan considers bone structure, fat pads, tissue quality, skin laxity, muscle movement, age-related changes, and how the face looks from multiple angles.
What filler can help with
- Lip volume, shape, definition, hydration, and symmetry.
- Cheek support, midface volume, and contour.
- Chin, jawline, and profile balance.
- Smile lines, marionette lines, and selected folds when filler is appropriate.
- Facial balancing across multiple areas.
- Skin quality and hydration with products such as SkinVive.
- Structure and collagen-supporting biostimulation with Radiesse in appropriate candidates.
What filler cannot do
- Filler does not relax muscle movement the way wrinkle relaxers do.
- Filler does not replace surgery when significant skin laxity is the main concern.
- Filler does not treat pigment, redness, or texture the way laser, IPL, microneedling, and skincare can.
- Filler should not be used to chase trends at the expense of facial balance.
Different fillers.
Different purposes.
The right product depends on the treatment area, tissue type, movement, desired feel, desired longevity, skin quality goals, and provider assessment.
Juvéderm
A family of hyaluronic acid fillers used for lips, cheeks, folds, contour, and facial balancing depending on the specific product selected.
Restylane
A versatile hyaluronic acid filler family often selected for lips, facial balancing, contour, volume, and selected delicate areas.
RHA
A resilient hyaluronic acid filler line often selected for dynamic facial areas where natural-looking movement is a major consideration.
Radiesse
A calcium hydroxylapatite-based filler used differently than traditional HA fillers. It may support structure, contour, and collagen-stimulating biostimulation in appropriate candidates.
SkinVive
An injectable hyaluronic acid microdroplet treatment used differently than traditional volumizing filler to support smoother, more hydrated-looking cheek skin.
There is no single best filler for everyone. Juvéderm, Restylane, RHA, Radiesse, and SkinVive all have different roles. Your provider chooses the product based on anatomy, tissue behavior, movement, risk profile, and the desired healed result.
Where dermal fillers
are commonly used.
Every filler plan should be individualized. The goal is not to fill every line — it is to restore balance where filler is the right tool.
Lips
Subtle volume, shape, symmetry, hydration, border definition, and age-related lip restoration.
Cheeks
Midface support, contour, and age-related volume loss when clinically appropriate.
Chin
Profile balance, lower-face proportion, and support for facial harmony.
Jawline
Structure and definition in selected candidates, often as part of facial balancing.
Smile Lines
Softening nasolabial folds when volume support or local correction is appropriate.
Marionette Lines
Lower-face support and fold softening in appropriate treatment plans.
Facial Balancing
Multiple small refinements across the face to support proportion and harmony.
Skin Quality
SkinVive may support smoother, more hydrated-looking cheek skin in appropriate candidates.
Filler has a healing window.
Do not judge it too early.
Bruising and swelling may occur after dermal filler. Some areas, especially lips, can look more swollen in the first few days. Final healed results are usually judged after the early swelling window improves.
Day 0
Immediate fullness, redness, tenderness, and early swelling can be normal. The result may look fuller than the final outcome.
Days 1–3
Swelling may peak, especially after lip filler. Bruising, firmness, and mild asymmetry can occur during this stage.
Days 4–7
Swelling often begins to settle. Bruising may change color and fade. Treated areas may still feel firm or uneven.
Days 7–14
Many guests begin seeing a more settled result. This is a common window for evaluating healed appearance.
Beyond 2 Weeks
Some products, areas, or staged plans may continue integrating. Your provider may advise follow-up timing if needed.
Call promptly if something feels wrong. Severe pain, blanching, unusual skin color changes, increasing swelling, signs of infection, vision symptoms, or anything concerning should be reported immediately. Filler is generally well tolerated, but vascular and inflammatory complications require urgent attention.
Can dermal filler
be dissolved?
Some fillers can be dissolved, but not all filler families behave the same way. This is one of the reasons product selection and treatment history matter.
HA Fillers May Be Dissolvable
Hyaluronic acid fillers, such as many products in the Juvéderm, Restylane, and RHA families, may be dissolved with hyaluronidase when clinically appropriate. Dissolving is not always instant, predictable, or one-and-done; some cases require staged correction.
- Used for selected HA filler concerns, overfilling, migration, nodules, or safety-related issues.
- May require consultation, assessment, and review of prior filler history.
- May cause swelling, tenderness, bruising, or temporary unevenness.
Not All Fillers Dissolve The Same
Radiesse is not a hyaluronic acid filler and is not dissolved the same way HA fillers are. SkinVive is an HA microdroplet treatment, but it is used differently than traditional volumizing filler. Your provider should evaluate the product, placement, concern, and safest correction pathway.
- Always tell your provider what filler you had, where it was placed, and when it was treated.
- Bring records or product information if you were treated elsewhere.
- Urgent symptoms should not wait for a routine appointment.
Important: Dissolving decisions are medical and should be individualized. If you have severe pain, color changes, vision symptoms, rapidly increasing swelling, or signs of vascular compromise, seek urgent evaluation.
How to support healing
after filler.
Your provider will give instructions specific to your treatment. General aftercare often includes the following:
- Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging treated areas unless specifically instructed.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot yoga, and heavy sweating for a short period after treatment.
- Avoid alcohol and unnecessary blood-thinning supplements when advised.
- Avoid dental work, vaccines, or major procedures near treatment when timing is not appropriate.
- Use cold compresses only as directed and avoid excessive pressure.
- Contact the practice if you experience severe pain, color changes, or concerning symptoms.
Aftercare matters because swelling, pressure, heat, and inflammation can affect comfort and the early healing process.
How much does filler cost
in Sarasota?
Dermal filler pricing depends on product, number of syringes, treatment area, facial anatomy, and whether the plan is single-area or staged.
Per-Syringe Pricing
Filler is often priced by syringe. Eternal MedSpa filler starts at $629 per syringe.
Product Choice
Juvéderm, Restylane, RHA, Radiesse, and SkinVive have different uses and planning considerations.
Staged Planning
A natural-looking full-face result may be better achieved over multiple appointments.
