Spider vein treatment in Sarasota.
★★★★★ 200+ reviews across Google, Facebook and YelpMedically reviewed
Spider vein treatment in Sarasota at Eternal MedSpa uses the LongPulse laser for small spider veins, broken capillaries and cherry angiomas. The 1064 nm laser heats the tiny vessel so it can fade over the following weeks. LongPulse can treat sun spots and age spots too. IPL is another option for those. Alexa Martinez of our medical team performs it in Sarasota, under Medical Director Reuben W. Holland III, MD, FACEP. Many guests need a series, and results vary.

What we treat. Small vessels and spots.
Each one starts with an assessment, because the right plan depends on what the spot or vessel is.
Spider veins
Thin red, blue or purple lines just under the skin, most often on the legs or face. Genes, age, hormones, pregnancy, sun and long hours on your feet all play a part.
Broken capillaries
Tiny red vessels on the face, often around the nose and cheeks. Sun, genes, weather and redness-prone skin can make them show. Very fine vessels with redness across the face may suit IPL better.
Cherry angiomas
Small, bright red bumps made of tiny blood vessels. They are common and usually harmless, and most people get more of them with age.
Sun spots and age spots
Flat brown spots on skin that has had years of sun. LongPulse can treat sun spots and age spots too. IPL treatment is often used for them, and it can also treat wider sun damage across the face. One of our physician assistants checks each brown spot before any laser.
Not for varicose veins or changing spots
Large, bulging or painful leg veins need a vein specialist. A spot that is new, changing or bleeding needs a dermatologist or your physician first.
When to see a dermatologist first.
We do not offer skin cancer screening. Before any laser, one of our physician assistants checks each brown spot. A spot that is new, growing, or changing in color or shape needs a dermatologist or your physician first. The same goes for a spot that bleeds, itches or does not heal. Leg veins with swelling, pain, skin changes or sores need a check too. Once a spot or vein is cleared as safe to treat, we can plan treatment with you.

What a visit is like.
Consult
We look at each vein or spot and review your skin type, recent sun and health history.
Check
One of our physician assistants checks each brown spot. We confirm each target is a fit for the laser, or whether IPL or a specialist fits better. This is not a skin cancer screening.
Treat
Your eyes are protected. Laser pulses go over each vessel or spot, at settings chosen for your skin.
Fade
Vessels may look darker or bruised at first. Sun spots may darken and crust, then flake off. Most fade over the following weeks, and leg veins can take longer.

How the laser works
1064 nm light, taken up by blood in a vessel or pigment in a spot.
LongPulse is a Vydence 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser, FDA-cleared for benign vascular lesions and benign pigmented lesions: harmless vessel spots and brown spots. Its light passes into the skin and is taken up by the blood inside a small vessel, or by the pigment in a sun spot. The heat can close the vessel, or break down the pigment so the spot darkens and flakes off. Your body clears treated vessels over the following weeks. Settings depend on your skin type and the target. It is non-ablative, so it leaves the skin's surface in place. A treated sun spot may still crust and flake off. More on the LongPulse laser page.
Candidacy and risks
Skin type, recent sun and the target decide the plan.
Good candidates
Guests with small spider veins, broken capillaries, cherry angiomas, sun spots or age spots, when skin type and the target are a fit, and once one of our physician assistants has checked each brown spot.
Tell us first
Your medications, such as blood thinners, and your health history. Also recent procedures, recent tanning or sun, and any history of raised scars, blood clots or melasma.
Sometimes no is safer
A recent tan or burn, a spot that is new or changing, or a large leg vein is a reason to wait or to see a specialist first. Melasma, the brown patches that sun, hormones and heat can bring on, needs a different plan, because laser heat can make it darker.
Common effects
Redness, warmth or mild swelling the same day, which usually settles quickly. Treated vessels may darken or bruise, and a treated spot may crust.
Less common risks
Blistering, a lighter or darker patch of skin and, rarely, a scar. The risk is higher on tanned skin and, when a brown spot is treated, on deeper skin tones.
What it cannot do
It does not stop new spider veins, angiomas, sun spots or age spots from forming. A treated sun spot can come back with sun. It is not for large or deep veins.
Pregnancy
Laser and light treatments are postponed during pregnancy. If you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding, tell us before booking.
Aftercare
Protect the area from the sun before and after treatment.
SPF and sun avoidance help reduce irritation and pigment risk. Avoid tanning, burns and unnecessary sun exposure. Let any crust on a treated spot fall off on its own; do not pick it.
Call if something feels wrong
Call 941-216-5221 with any concern after treatment. Text 941-337-8461 with any other question. When we are closed, we still check texts, emails and voicemails, but not right away, so they are not an emergency line. For a true emergency, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

Spider veins and cherry angiomas: your questions, answered.
Can a laser treat spider veins?
A laser can fade small spider veins for many guests, often over a series of sessions. Results vary, and new veins can form over time. Leg veins often respond more slowly to laser than face veins.
What is a cherry angioma?
A cherry angioma is a small, bright red bump made of tiny blood vessels. They are common and usually harmless. A spot that changes, bleeds or looks different from the others should be checked by a dermatologist or your physician first.
What causes broken capillaries on the face?
Sun exposure, genes, weather and redness-prone skin can all make small facial vessels show. They often appear around the nose and cheeks.
How many spider vein sessions will I need?
Many guests need two or more sessions, spaced weeks apart. Small facial vessels and cherry angiomas often respond sooner than leg veins. Your plan is set after an assessment.
Does laser vein treatment hurt?
Most guests describe a quick snap and a brief feeling of heat with each pulse. Tell us if you want to pause at any time.
Is there downtime?
Downtime is usually light. The area may be red, warm or mildly swollen for a short time. Treated vessels may look darker or bruised before they fade, and a treated sun spot may darken and crust for a week or two, sometimes longer on the body, before it flakes off. Protect the area from the sun.
When will I see results?
Small vessels and spots usually fade over the weeks after a session. Leg veins can take longer. Results vary.
Can LongPulse treat sun spots?
Yes, once one of our physician assistants has checked the spot. LongPulse is FDA-cleared for benign pigmented lesions, including sun spots and age spots. IPL treatment is another option, and it can also treat wider sun damage across the face. At your visit we help you choose.
Will spider veins come back?
New spider veins and cherry angiomas can form over time, even after a good result. Some guests plan a maintenance session later.
Do you treat varicose veins?
No. Large, bulging, painful or swollen leg veins need an evaluation by a vein specialist or your physician. For veins, our laser treats only small vessels near the surface.
Should a dermatologist check my spot first?
Yes, if a spot is new, growing, changing in color or shape, bleeding, itching or not healing. See a dermatologist or your physician first. We do not offer skin cancer screening.
Can I have laser vein treatment while pregnant?
Laser and light treatments are postponed during pregnancy. If you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding, tell us before booking.
